Drawing 12 Drawn at At the Liver Sketching Club I drew this on the rougher side of the pastel paper, which has a texture a bit like that of canvass. I started with charcoal and worked into it with white conte pencil to build up all the modelling. I was going to start working some colour into it but there wasn't enough time. He looks a bit 'ashen', and, strangely enough, his name is Ashley! This was a two hour pose.
